SQUAD’r

Privacy Policy

Last updated September 4, 2026

SQUAD’r is a private map for small groups. This policy explains exactly what we collect, why, and how to get rid of it. We do not sell your data, we do not run ads, and we do not track you across other apps.

What we collect

How your location is used

Location is requested only when in use, never in the background. It is visible to members of the squad you are broadcasting to and nobody else. Stop broadcasting and sharing stops. You can also revoke the permission entirely in iOS Settings; the rest of the app keeps working.

Third-party AI image generation

When you forge a pin icon or an avatar, the description you type is sent to third-party AI image providers (currently Recraft and Flux, reached through the Vercel AI Gateway) so they can generate artwork for you. We send only your typed description plus a fixed style instruction. We do not send your name, email, location, or any other account information, and the generated image is returned to us and stored with your account. Prompts are checked before they are sent and disallowed requests are refused. The app asks for your explicit agreement before the first time it sends anything to these providers.

What we never do

Where your data lives

Your account, content and images are stored on Cloudflare infrastructure. Content is scoped to the squads you share it with; a squad's pins, chat and photos are visible only to that squad's members. Photos and icons are addressed by long unguessable identifiers.

Retention and deletion

Content stays until you or your squad delete it. You can delete your entire account at any time from Profile → Delete account inside the app. Deleting removes your profile, your personal icon locker, your friendships, your pending invites, and your content from the squads you were in. Squads you owned are deleted, and any icon a squad already adopted stays with that squad as its own copy. Deletion is immediate and cannot be undone.

Children

SQUAD’r is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from them. If you believe a child has created an account, email us and we will remove it.

Your rights

You can access and correct your profile in the app, export nothing you did not create, and delete everything as described above. If you are in the EEA or UK, you may also request a copy of your data or object to processing by emailing us.

Changes

If this policy changes materially we will update this page and the date at the top.
